Geocache Description:

A traditional cache located just off the Peak Forest Tramway hopefully in time for the NW cachers meeting 15/4/08.

Firstly a bit of history courtesy of English Heritage:-

The Peak Forest Tramway was opened in 1796 and linked the vast quarries at Doveholes with the Bugsworth Canal Basin 6 miles to the northeast. It was one of the earliest mineral railways in Britain to link with an inland waterways system and also to use iron rails. The route, engineered by Benjamin Outram, successfully overcame the challenges posed by the north Derbyshire landscape, including the construction of the Stoddart Tunnel at Chapel en le Frith, that has been identified as the second oldest railway tunnel in the world.

This is muggle country, so please check both ways for muggles before "going in" for the cache.
The nearby Black Brook is a haven for wildlife, having a good stock of trout. Kingfishers, Dippers, Yellow Wagtails and Wrens can all be seen on a good day. Afew hundred metres East you will see a factory pool stocked with wildfowl, you can normally see the rare Australian Black Swan here.

Please conceal the cache well after your find.
