This traditional cache is on level terrain. Must negotiate a small four foot hill at approximately 1600 feet altitude. General diffuculty level is easy with a short hike of 100 feet.
Slugger's Cache is relatively easy to find. Park at the state provided parking area for two cars. Negotiate the small four foot hill and then to level ground. Container is a 1.5 liter Rubbermaid box, clear with blue top. This is near, but not on, Lovewell State Park. It is on public property that is open to everyone for fishing, hunting and hiking.
Walk quietly and you can see deer, wild turkey, pheasant, doves and bobwhite quail, and many species of waterfowl and many, many songbirds. Get there very early in the morning and you will be serenaded by the many birds.
This lovely lake has camping facilities about two miles east. Just follow the signs. There are also some cabins for rent from the Kansas Parks and Wildlife folks.
In the cache are the following items: Baseball trading cards, orange race car, "Pet" pin, clip-on sunglasses, assorted pencils, a log book and a travel bug with instructions.
Cache seekers should take time to enjoy the lovely lake scenes by taking any of the many access roads or go to the very large camping/picnic area a few miles east.
