There are many reasons to place a geocache. The first reason for this one is that is marks the 5000th cache of M1EYO - a man who has done a bit of caching. Personally, I think he had himself cloned some years ago so he can simultaneously find and set geocaches, sit on mountain tops with a radio set, lead treks into the hills and, hardest of all, teach young people the joys of physics.
The second reason: this cache is placed a mile down the road from NW Cacher's Monthly Meet event at the Navigation Inn, Buxworth on 15 April 2008, which should actually be Alan's 5000th cache; thus presenting an easy detour in celebration.
The third reason: just down the road you will find two excellent hostelries, the Old Hall and the Oddfellows Arms, in the rarely visited hamlet of Whitehough. The fourth reason: Whitehough is a great base for walking, starting and ending at the pub. The fifth reason: this cache is 590m from one of Alan's caches "Peak Panorama - Cracken Edge", but that's on the A6 and not easy to get to from here!
When placed, the small pot contained: a log book, pencil and a creepy looking glass clown.
I hope you enjoy the cache. Please try not to drop it over the fence...
