This cache was originally a bonus cache for 'Titanic Town' but I felt is was not getting the exposure it should so have re-published it as a standard cache.
Parking is available outside Freshfield Animal Rescue Centre and the footpath is further Northwest along Park Wall Road. Please stick to the footpath as this can be a very busy road. An OS Map will help.
This small cache with some shipwrecked treasure in it of ‘silver & gold’ and is a very pleasant half mile or so walk in beautiful surroundings and at the final location has all-round views which are really fantastic across the local countryside. Foot access only sorry as the edge of the fields can be rather muddy so be warned. There has been a bridge here since the 16th century when monks would have used it to travel between the nearby towns of Ormskirk and Maghul to Formby and Blundlesands etc. This is a new bridge at the original location across this river and is odd really as it is not a very busy right of way although the council have gone to some trouble to make this walk an easy one on foot at least.NOTE! The cache is 500ft short of the final view point which views must be seen so please do the extra distance and appreciate the scenery as the monks and priests must have done also. The walk can be linked to the nearby Liverpool to Southport disused railway which is further on from the cache and also well sign posted. Please stick to the paths on the edge of the fields which are clearly sign posted at each junction.I was amazed at the variety of different birds that were present, Skylarks, Oyster Catchers, Herons, Pheasants, Curlews, Lapwings and even a Buzzard, but best of all on the night the cache was placed a barn owl swept past us twice in the dusk light, the very first I’d ever seen.Sorry about the log book, I could not get the purchased book into the box. I Will replace it once it is filled.
P.S. Please advise if coords need adjustment
