Geocache Description:

Providence Cone-a majestic rock cone rising to 4498 feet over the mesa west of Las Cruces. It has been ignored by Place Names of New Mexico and cachers who put caches on high places. Easy to find, but a small climb is required. High clearance vehicle perferred, but an experienced Blue Camry can get there with ease.

RIDERS OF THE GREEN CREOSOTE GANG felt sorry for the neglect that Providence Cone has experienced thru the years. We are sure that it guided travelers crossing the waterless track from Deming to Las Cruces. The cache provides a magnificent view of the Floridas and Tres Hermonas and the surrounding desert. Bring a lunch and enjoy.Orginal contents: FTF take your pick. George Washington Dollar, Lone Ranger badge, BLM Belt Buckle, Army Bicoculars (old and found in the desert), Army Snake bite kit(also old so don't depend on it if you get snake bite on the way up), Compass, Glow stick, Turtle magnet.Take I10 west to Loves truck stop and follow the access road 1030 for about 6 miles and stay right on CR B 5 a dirt road for 10 miles, cross the RR tracks, turn right on CR B02 for 9.3 miles to unmarked intersection, turn left and follow your nose to Providence Cone for a couple of miles.
