Zinfandel Lane Bridge Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is our favorite in our series to get you to visit our bridges. Once you stop by we think you'll be captivated as well.
The Zinfandel Lane bridge was built in 1913 and carries it's age with pride. It is not nearly as scarred and battered as are a couple of it's sister bridges up and down the Valley - probably because both approaches are nice and straight and there isn't nearly as much traffic.
We thought about making this part of our Valley View series because you will get unimpeded views across and up and down the valley here (as well as awesome satellite coverage). Then we also thought about making a "Not a Pink Elephant" series and including this - see if you can spot what we mean.
Ultimately it is the bridge that will win your heart. As you approach the cache, take the time to appreciate the surroundings. In fact, we recommend bringing a little snack and sitting for awhile and watching the waterfowl in the river.
The cache is a plastic container about six inches long and two inches in diameter. It is well camo'ed and (we think) pretty well hidden. As always, exercise caution particularly during certain times of the year since snakes are endemic to the area. Just be sure to knock before entering. You'll be happy to know that there is no poison oak around. Enjoy the spot and happy caching.
2/03/09 -- We stopped by last Friday and confirmed that the cache is still there and in good shape. We've increased the difficulty and are adding a hint since it really does hide well. Please return it exactly to keep the fun for everyone.
11/21/09 -- We had heard that the cache container had some problems with staying shut so we stopped and replaced it. It is now a somewhat smaller cylinder. It's approximately 2" in diameter and perhaps a little taller than that. It's hidden in the same spot so please return it EXACTLY as found in order to make it an honest three stars for difficulty. Thanks.
12/28/10 -- We checked today and it is still there waiting to be found.
