Are you up to the challenge?
Remember King of the Mountain? The game where you wanted to get to the top and stay there? This cache almost gets you there, so you want to be King? Once you get there, please be gentle with the cache itself, though you may be tempted to use Kingly (or Queenly, as the case may be) force (please don't). A hike of something over a mile. Closest available parking is at the Parking Waypoint below.
The Cannon River Wilderness Area consists of approximately 850 acres of wooded river valley. The Wilderness Area is located four miles north of Faribault and extends along the Cannon River to a point about five miles south of Northfield.
Cannon River Wilderness Area features are as follows:
Five miles of Cross Country skiing and hiking trails
Picnic area complete with picnic shelter and comfort station
Well and hand pump
Laminated wood beam footbridge built across the Cannon River
Four primitive campsites
Canoe trail to the Cannon River
A self-guided nature trail has been established and several thousand seedling trees have been planted in the area.
