First Log Cabin in Greenwood Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jenischmeni: I was by here today and was going to add a new log and replace the container again. It seems that this type of container just isn't working in this spot. It seems that too many people don't know how to replace logs in bison tubes, the logs get smashed down inside the tubes, the tubes don't close and the log gets soaked.

I just don't really know what else to do with this spot as it just can't really support a bigger container. (And not keep within the theme that I originally wanted.)

So... I'm just letting this spot go. This type of hide isn't really the kind of hide that I like having anyway :-(

Geocache Description:

First Log Cabin in Greenwood

Continuing my History of Greenwood series, we now have Greenwood's first log cabin.

Approximately 100' north/northeast of the cache site is the historical marker for the cabin.

The first log cabin in Greenwood was built by John B. & Jane (Brewer) Smock about 1823.  The first church meetings were held in this very same cabin and were officiated by Rev. Isaac Reed.  The original members were:  Garrett Brewer, John B. Smock, Isaac & Rachel (Demaree) Smock, James & Charity (Brewer) Smock, Henry & Mary Smock and Mary DeMotte Smock.

You'll now know the location as Greenwood Park Mall.  Now, it's a REALLY big cabin.

Apologies for hiding a bison tube here, but the immediate area couldn't support anything larger.
