Restoring Wallace Marine Park, one cache at a time......

This cache was placed to celebrate the reclamation of this site. The unimproved areas of Wallace Marine Park, with their large expanse of woods and close proximity to town have for many years been a haven for transients. The open area near this cache- 87 feet from the softball parking lots, was until recently a large transient camp.
SAGA has worked over the years to help clean up this park, hosting CITO's, meeting with parks officials, in general becoming a thorn in the cities side. With little success. Until this year. We have been able to establish a wonderful partnership with the City of Salem Parks program, now under the leadership of Scott Rogers Parks Superintendent and have joined with the West Salem Business Association as well- and the reclamation of this area is the proof.
This cache was placed to invite others to enjoy this area and to help keep it healthy and clean. Bring your dog (on leash of course)or a mountain bike, bring a friend and explore the newly widened trails. Help us keep this transformation going.
