Nice wooded area for a walk
Hike into Wilderness Park from the east parking area (see waypoint). Regular trails and boardwalk for awhile, then a variety of walking and animal trails to choose from, in an area of the Park that doesn't get as much use.
The Cannon River Wilderness Area consists of approximately 850 acres of wooded river valley. The Wilderness Area is located four miles north of Faribault and extends along the Cannon River to a point about five miles south of Northfield.
Cannon River Wilderness Area features are as follows:
Five miles of Cross Country skiing and hiking trails
Picnic area complete with picnic shelter and comfort station
Well and hand pump
Laminated wood beam footbridge built across the Cannon River
Four primitive campsites
Canoe trail to the Cannon River
A self-guided nature trail has been established and several thousand seedling trees have been planted in the area.
