Geocache Description:

NOTE: ALL COINS HAVE BEEN SPOKEN FOR. WATCH FOR A NEW CHALLENGE WITH A NEW COIN.

During the early years, playground equipment was primitive, and undoubtedly the product of the children's ingenuity. The first such equipment provided by the City was probably simple swings, teeterboards, sandboxes, benches, and similar items. The City report for the fiscal year ending February 28, 1925, stated that the sum of $219.04 was spent on playground maintenance. As a commentary on the assets, "The Street Department that same year spent $295.52 for mules and harness". The "fixed assets" shows equipment valued at $350.00 "for parks and playgrounds". In the same year, it committed itself to the purchase of certain lands that are now part of the Myers Park, at a cost of $9,980.00.

Myers Park named in honor of Frederick Towle Myers, who had a long and distinguished career of local public service.
