Geocache Description:

Lac d'Eupen (Final)

Take A Hike 7 is a subseries of 8 caches within the Take a Hike series.

These caches will lead again through a diversity of terrain and nature.

TAH7 will request from you, a combination of strong physical and mental effort, but that’s why you started with it anyway, I suppose.

The series consists of 4 multi caches (Entenpfuhl GC1BCAB, Seveneiken GC1BCAC, Weser GC1BCAD and Toussaint GC1BCAE), which will provide you with the necessary information to calculate directly Lac d’Eupen (Initial) (GC1BCAJ) and Metacache I (GC1BCAF), but also indirectly Lac d’Eupen (Final) (GC1BCAH).

The 4 multi caches are over-defined, which will give you a way to check the result for both Lac d’Eupen caches.

Metacache I will provide you with information to calculate the position of Metacache II (GC1BCAG) and the correction vector for the calculation of Lac d’Eupen (Final).

Metacache II will tell you the method how to calculate the end location of Lac d’Eupen (Final).

With the result of that calculation, please apply a correction of 46 meters in direction 148 (degrees).

When you have a car at your disposal, which will bring you to the respective starting points, the total (optimal) distance by foot will be approximately 23 km for all caches together. If you do not use the optimal route, it can be a whole lot more.

If you do not have a car at your disposal, this will be a 2 days tour.

All caches can be reached on bicycle, but don’t underestimate the total vertical distance.

And now about this cache:

With the pseudoranges (Rp) obtained from the 4 multi caches and the scale vector (S), obtained from Metacache I, you can calculate the effective respective ranges.

Re = Rp * S

From the final coordinates of the 4 multi caches, with the effective ranges (Re), you can calculate the 1st virtual point.

From this virtual point, with the information and method you found in Metacache II, you will able define the final position of this cache.

Have fun and good luck
