Backus - Wetland Trail Traditional Geocache
aardvarklad: Well, it's been a good run! Cache in place for 8 years!! Was walking through the trails a week ago, doing some spring birding (no GPS) and decided to grab the cache and retire it! Lots of changes in the area, but many thanks to the folks at Nature Conservancy for keeping these trails open and improving them over the years. Backus Woods.... a true gem in SouthWestern Ontario!

Located on Wetland Trail of Backus Woods.
Almost called this the "Locked in the Trunk of My Car" cache, since the cache/container had been in my trunk for almost a year. While going hiking in the Backus area on a beautiful spring day, I found the cache in my trunk and decided it needed to be set free.
Cache is located by following the trails through the woods. No bushwacking should be required, but you will need to hike a few minutes to get to it. While here, check out the great trails that this area has to offer. Backus is one of the largest stands of Carolinian forest in Canada and is home to many species of flora and fauna. Backus Heritage Conservation area is at the far south end of this tract of bush, and there is admission for that area at certain times of year (but well worth it). Cache contains standard items gathered from other caches (with a few related to birds, bugs and the outdoors). Upon getting back to the car, my son noticed a pencil on my ear (which sadly enough I didn't realize was there!!), so I am not sure if there is a pencil in the cache. If someone would be so kind as to leave a pencil in the cache when you find it, I would appreciate it. Enjoy the walk!!
