Geocache Description:

This event will be one small part of the WWFM3 3 (World-Wide Flash Mob event – see below). This event and all others around the globe in their respective time zone will begin precisely at 1 pm EST on Saturday, May 10th, 2008.

This Flash Mob Geocache event will last exactly 15 minutes – not a second longer. You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim this event.

For those that don’t know - A Flash Mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse.

ITINERARY:

12:45 PM - 12:59 PM - Participants wait patiently and/or stroll around the area. STAY AWAY from ground zero until the signal is given. Best as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to know each other or give any indication that something is about to happen. At 12:59 PM slowly begin to move towards ground zero.

1:00 PM – Music will play – everyone will converge right at ground zero. Log slips will be handed out - Bring your own pen or pencil. Sign individual log slip and drop it in the collection box. Next - turn to someone close by and “swag swap” or trade “trackables” if you so chose.

1:08 PM – Group picture takes place. Listen carefully and follow all directions given by photographer quickly as to where to line up.

1:12 PM - The event meal will be held (Hershey’s Kisses), and mingling can take place. The FTF name drawing will be held.

1:14 PM - One minute warning is called "It is now 1:14!" Prepare to leave. Organizers seal up log container for transport.

1:15 PM EXACTLY – Everyone leave immediately! Meet elsewhere if desired.

This event will be held rain or shine – please come prepared for the elements.

We would love to have a general idea of how many to expect – so please write a note here and let us know if you and others will be attending the event.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 1) The Coordinates may change ever so slightly the day before the event. 2) To keep up with any news or changes – make sure to set the page for "notifications" so you’ll be notified via email. Check this cache page the morning of May 10th to confirm all information.

Update as of 5/3/08: Well we are a week away and no changes to the plans as of yet. With my team included - it looks like we are up to at least 20 people who plan to attend. I hope for a ton more! Please spread the word to all your fellow geocachers (even if you can't go) - the more the merrier! Looking forward to meeting everyone next Saturday!

Update as of 5/9/08 (early a.m.): Well we have begun our trek to NY to see family and host the WWFM. It looks like there will be at least 30 folks in attendance. Still hoping for more! Don't forget to check back later today or in the a.m. on Saturday as the coordinates may change ever so slightly. See y'all soon.

Final Update (as of 5/9/08/late evening): Well due to an especially long trip (due to weather and traffic) there was no way to update the coordinates. Please note that ground zero will be in the middle of the park (within a few hundred feet of the coordinates originally posted on the event page). Listen for the music to play and proceed to that point. Remember that absolute promptness is necessary as the event can ONLY last 15 minutes. There will be plenty of time to meet folks and swap swag or trackables. Please remember to bring a pen or pencil. If you are interested in seeing how many other event will be going on during ours - see here: (visit link)
I hope the event will meet everyone's expectations! See you all tomorrow at 1pm.
