Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This recently restored wetland in Bexley has been designated as an Ecological Heritage Site by the City Council. A short walking track rewards you with great views to the Port Hills and Alps, as well as abundant birdlife, saltmarsh, saltmeadow, coastal bush and freshwater wetlands.
This is quite a simple multi-cache, should take approx 30 minutes depending on where you start from and how long you stop to look at the birds.
The above co-ordinates are for our suggested car-park and starting point, and is close to the Final cache location.
Note : This area suffered significant damage in the Canterbury Earthquakes, and recent repairs to the paths and riverbank destroyed two of the original waypoints. ( These have now been replaced )There is still some cracks, holes etc in the walking tracks, so probably best not to attempt this after dark.
