Geocache Description:

Get Your Kicks On Route 66
Enjoy your drive down the Mother Road.

The intent of this series is to point out
historic or unique places along old route 66 between IL and CA. It
is NOT meant to be a power trail as caches may be 50 miles or more
apart. Stop and enjoy these sights along the way.

This Bridge was built in 1926 as part of Rt. 4 going through Pontiac. On Nov. 11, 1926 Rt. 4 became Rt. 66.
Early Highways were marked with Stenciled images on Bridges and utility poles.
The Stenciling on this bridge survived from 1926. In 2007 the
Stenciling was redone to it's original appearance.
This bridge was rebuilt in 2005 using the original bridge ends
and the fencing was done as on the original bridge. There is also a
Benchmark LCO769 that was reset on the bridge during
reconstruction.
NOTICE: For additional details on the Route 66 project (plans, thoughts, template, etc) or to participate and create Route 66 caches along the "Mother Road" in your area, visit our site at www.route66geocaching.org. (visit link).
