Geocache Description:

The cache is a camouflaged ½ litre container suitable for small tradeables. The cache is over the edge of an embankment not suitable for children.

This road is the northern portion of the Mazinaw Heights Roads. It is a remnant of the original Highway 41. It was rerouted in the early 1960's. Some say that it was rerouted to make the road straighter and safer. Others say it was to take the road farther away from Mazinaw Rock. Bon Echo Provincial Park had been established a few years earlier and Mazinaw Rock was one of its spectacular views.

There is ample parking at this location with a pretty good view of Mazinaw Rock. Stop, pick up a geocache, take a few pictures and enjoy this location. Mazinaw Rock towers 300 feet over Mazinaw Lake. It features ancient native pictographs, Walt Whitman poetry carvings and peregrin falcon nests. Some call it the Canadian Gibraltar.

This cache is near, but not on Park property.

Take extreme care approaching this cache. The parking is really close, but the last 5m to the cache involves climbing down a steep hill with rocks and a lake at the bottom of it.

Make sure you check out South Mazinaw Heights.

FTF prize is a toonie!
