Geocache Description:

Near the end of a dead-end road. The container is a camouflaged 4x4 lock n lock.

This road is the southern portion of the Mazinaw Heights Roads. It is a remnant of the original Highway 41. It was rerouted in the early 1960's. Some say that it was rerouted to make the road straighter and safer. Others say it was to take the road farther away from Mazinaw Rock. Bon Echo Provincial Park had been established a few years earlier and Mazinaw Rock was one of its spectacular views.

Mazinaw Lake is one of the deepest in Eastern Ontario. It descends nearly 500 feet and is the location for many myths including gold and silver stashes and a “Loch Ness”-type monster called Mazie. It was used as a native gathering place and is part of the northern Mississippi River.

Make sure you check out North Mazinaw Heights.

A loonie is there for the FTF!
