Geocache Description:

This is a one of what I hope will be a series of caches around Leeds/Bradford International Airport. These will be placed where the best views are and where many of the local enthusiasts take photographs from.

Why EGNM? EGNM is the code used on flight plans, in Air Traffic Control etc for Leeds/Bradford Airport.

EGNM E=Europe G=Great Britain N & M random letters.

HOLDING POINT ECHO ONE

Echo One refers to the holding point at the end of runway 14. If this runway is in use (That’s landing from your left) airliners will backtrack the runway, turn off and taxi round the loop to hold at Holding Point “Echo One” facing towards your current position

This is great spot when runway 14 is in use. Aircraft line up for take-off in front of you, and landing aircraft pass right by. The area can be very popular. You are also very close to the start of The Yeadon Yomp multi cache if you have more time to kill and you get bored watching the aircraft. It’s a great spot for photography of both the arrivals and departures.

Unfortunately when landing from the other end (Runway 32) things are not as good, most aircraft taking off are quite high by the time they are passing this spot, When landing on 32 they should stop well before the end of the runway.

If you have an airband radio/scanner the frequency you should tune into is 120.3 which is Leeds Tower. You should hear some of the Holding Points the caches are named after mentioned. If you are lucky enough to have a scanner 125.575 is the approach frequency. (Changed from 123.75 Summer 2010)

You can drive right up to the cache, WHICH IS A NANO. However I've given it a difficulty rating of 3 because of heavy muggle presence. Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays are the worst days for muggles.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO ENTER SACRED GROUND TO FIND THE CACHE

AS WITH ALL MY CACHES - DO NOT POST A FIND IF YOU HAVE NOT FOUND THE PLASTIC . ANY LOGS ALONG THE LINES “I WENT BUT THE CACHE HAD GONE MISSING SO I’M CLAIMING IT ANYWAY” WILL BE DELETED
