Geocache Description:

Tzuba Spring - about half hour from Jerusalem

This spring near Jerusalem had been beautifully taken care of with grassy areas and shade to relax in next to a small pool with water from the spring. There is a second, indoor pool that you can peek into, but is locked. We were told that the plaster on this building is from 114 BC!

You can also visit the ancient underground flowing Spring. It costs 5 NIS ($1) payed to the worker in the area. (visit link)

We enjoyed the walk inside the tunnel and walking in the cold waters. (especially on a hot day) The water only gets to your ankles if you walk in the flow of water (good idea to walk barefoot) or you can walk on the sides of flow. You need to bend a bit for the first part of the tunnel, but later can straighten up. The tunnel is lit so you do not need to bring a flashlight. The walk to the larger chamber only takes a few minutes. There was air flowing through all the way.

The cache is hidden near the entrance to the site. It's hard to see, so you may need to feel a round to find it. The container is a glass jar so you can recognize it by touch. However, please take care not to break it. But in case it does break - please throw it away so no one gets hurt.

The area with the grass and small pool is always accessible. The walk through the tunnel is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 - 15:00. If you plan on coming at another time and would like to pay and go in the tunnel, you can try and call Alex at

The easiest way to reach the spring is to enter Kibbutz Tzuba through the main gate, continue straight for about 1 1/2 - 2 KM then the road will take you down the hill and you will reach the large graveled parking lot.

From here you walk down about 300 m and take the first right turn to the spring. There are signs along the way in Hebrew that are green with a white arrow.

We actually walked from the Mevasaret/Motza area. You have to get onto an asphalt Road to the South, parallel to the Tzuba - Haddasah road. The easiest place to catch this path is by the deserted quarry West of the village on the Tzuba - Haddasah road.
