Abandon Graphite Mine Traditional Cache

Park at the wide dirt intersection of Ridge Rd and Sisco Lane by the marsh and wooden powerline poles. The trail head starts of the dirt rd (Sisco) behind the Auto repair center. Open woods and fairly level terrain most of the way with a short uphill climb to the mine area.
This cache is located around an abandoned graphite mine that I believe was worked in the late 1800's. The mine wasn't worked very long, most likely due to cost. There were only about 12 graphite mines in the state according to one map source I located. Graphite appears in its host rock as grayish flecks, which you can see on close observation of the removed rock in the tailings pile as well as close to the cache. The 3x10 copper tube is placed a little ways from the worked stone hillside to preserve its "green" integrity. PLEASE no need to move rocks around; this may destroy the cache container area!! Cache is tucked in a crevice concealed by a small log. Hunting is done in the area. Treequest.
