Launched Site Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no cache to find for months, or you have neglected to do necessary maintenance, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

Park at official equestrian staging area for south end of Coyote Trails (Coordinates will take you there.)

You don't need to travel far from the parking lot. I would consider this one very easy, a grab and go. Take the time to hike up the trail for another nearby cache.

Please note that the road accessing this location dead-ends at this parking lot. There is no continued access for vehicles beyond this point. Some maps show that this is an intersection, and that the road continues. That is wrong. By vehicle you must return to Monterey Highway the same way you came.

This is a lesser used side of Coyote Creek. There is not access across the creek at this location. If you want to get to the other side you'll need to head south about 1/3 mile and cross the nice bridge. There are several other geocaches at this end of the trails but on the other side of the creek. Take time to enjoy and treasure the wonderful trails for hiking, bicycling, "strollering" and trail-riding. As far as I know this is all on-a-leash dog-friendly too!

There are several reasons we named this one Launched Site. First that comes to mind is the only time I got dumped off my horse, just about 50 feet up the trail from here. Second reason, this is the launch of our first GC, and third, we are launching some new travelbugs here. Fourth, this is a "launch" site for equestrians using the Coyote Trails. There's plenty of parking. Our original name for this was "Let's Do Launch", as there are so many places along these trails for a picnic.

Drive slowly when you leave the asphalt road. You have a short distance to drive to the entrance of the parking lot. Sometimes the road is smoother than other times. Right now there are some decent potholes to navigate.
