Harry Paye was a notorious Poole Pirate who decided to hide some of his loot on Canford Heath away from the prying eyes of the Revenue men and his ‘maties’. So he devised a cunning route to his treasure trove to deter the varmints. Happy hunting.
Park the car at the end of Pilsden Drive on West Canford Heath at N50 45.368 W001 58.059 and head for the metal gates onto the heath.
At each of the 5 stages you will find a ‘green spot’ with a number and a letter. The route is a very pleasant walk round part of this lovely old Dorset Heath and can be done by everybody.
STAGE 1 ---N50 45.518 W001 58.287
STAGE 2 ---N50 45.533 W001 58.377
STAGE 3 ---N50 45.742 W001 58.475
# For stage 3 follow the gravel track right up to the far end and then double back.
STAGE 4 ---N50 45.784 W001 58.445
STAGE 5 ---N50 45.707 W001 58.259
# For stage 5 go through the gate nearby and walk across on the sandy path to a gravel road and then turn right.
The cache is at ---N50 45.BDA W001 58.CCE
# For the cache site follow the track uphill to the top (cycle route)
# The shortest routes back to the car are rather rough so you may like to take the easier route by returning back down the track and then circle round the bottom.
NOTE # Alternative route for wheelchairs and the not so able.
