Geocache Description:

Quiet Parkway.

This is the Eighth in our series of "Country Music"

"BELIEVE"

"Believe" is written and sung by Brooks and Dunn. 10 Year Straight award winners of "Entertainer of the Year" on the concert circuit.

This song describes about how a young boy develops a friendship with an elderly man across the fields from his parents farm.

"Old man Wrigley lived in that white house
Down the street where i grew up
Momma used to send me over with things
We struck a freindship up
I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing."

"I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see
Oh i believe."

"I can't quote the book
The chapter or the verse
You can't tell me it all ends
In a slow ride in a hearse
You know I'm more and more convinced
The longer that i live
Yeah, this can't be
No, this can't be
No, this can't be all there is."

Approximately 130 feet North of this Cache site is the final Resting Place for a young man that I have known since he was 5.

Adam Arnold del Pilar is buried here. Adam was such a loving young man, as a little boy he would always pick everyone little flowers to give them. Adam came to live in Mishawaka when he was 14, traveling here to live with his Father and Step Mother. The family has been our dear family friends for 20 years. Adam was a great kid. He knew everyone, had a smile for everyone. Adam graduated from Marian High School here in Mishawaka, then entered Indiana University to study Pre-Med. He aimed to be everything for everyone. His father dreamed of a Father/Son Medical Practice. Adam dreamed of always helping the less fortunate. That kid would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and then go get you whatever else you needed. He was kind hearted, a gentlemen, loved by all who ever met him. Adam was just shy of his birthday when he left this earth 08/28/2007.

The day of Adam's funeral at St. Monica's in Mishawaka, there was not a parking spot to be found for blocks, there was not a dry eye in the Church, I had been a member of St. Monica's for 17 years and I have never seen that church so full of people in my life. The most heart wrenching and touching part for all of us, was when his father; Dr. Arnold del Pilar said some final thoughts.

"While we were vacationing in the Carribean one summer, we could not find Adam, we walked and walked and could not find him. Finally we found him, he was amongst the poorest of the poor on the island. He was talking with them about life, their lives, how their medicine is practiced so much differently than ours. Adam vowed to return to help the poorest of the poor but till then he gave them every last dollar he had, told them he didn't need it, they needed food and medicine for their children. My dream for Adam was to practice medicine side by side, Adams dream was to help the poorest of the poor. Allow your children to have dreams, allow them to make their dreams come true, help your children in their darkest times, do not chastise them. Hold them, Talk to them, Kiss them, but most of all LOVE THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE, NOT WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO BE, FOR YOUR DREAMS FOR THEM, MAY NOT BE THEIR DREAMS AT ALL."

The loss of Adam del Pilar was devestating to our family, especially to Caching Princess, for they had a special bond. His loss was also devestating to our close knit neighborhood we all live in and to our community.

Adam, may you finally Rest In Peace. Watch over all of us, especially Doc.

Caching Princess has added her own note, that I "believe" should be shared with all. It is profound and hits home.
I am extremely proud of my daughter for her well written note and her thoughts of why she wanted this cache placed.

I wanted everyone to know that this is a really nice park. This place makes a persons death no so bad. There are pretty flowers, the pond for fish, and the memorials.
One thing Adam's death taught me, was that no matter how hard life gets, find help. Talk to your Mom or Dad, or your friends, you do not have to be alone. Adam is gone, no one can bring him back, but I made a promise to Dr. Arnie the day after Adam died, that I would never ever do drugs or be involved with drugs, because they are bad for you. They do bad things to you. Drugs destroyed my Adam's life. He was my friend, he knew me since before I was born. He used to tell my Mom "CC its a girl, I just know it". Adam took care of me the night my Grandma died, while Dr. Arnie was at our house with my Mom, so she didn't have to alone.
I was allowed to miss school the day of Adams funeral at St. Monica's. Tons of people were there to give support, love and prayers. The sadder fact of this is, Adam did not have to die, not like he did. One of my efforts by having my mom help me place this cache in memory of Adam, was so that if anything can be learned from Adam's death, is that DRUGS ARE BAD. Drugs can ruin your life. Drugs took Adam from all of us. I have signed my Promise to live a drug free life with my parents and at school. All Moms and Dads out there, talk to your kids about drugs. Ask them to sign the Promise to live a Drug Free life and to just say NO to drugs.
