Small painted plastic container longer than a film can but not as big around. There is poison ivy in the vicinity but you do not have to get into it in order to retrieve the cache.
I love these old cemeteries with their big old trees, beautiful lawns, and intriguing headstones. The setting is so peaceful and where else can you found poetry like this that marks the gravesite of a young MAN of 18 who died in 1902.
"Her life was like a half blown rose
Closed are the shade of even
Her death the dawn the blushing hour
The opes the gate to heaven.
or this:
"Angels let the ransomed stranger
In your tender care be blessed
Hoping, trusting, safe from danger
Til the trumpet end her rest.
That one was for a female of unknown age, died 1887.
"The earliest headstone in this community burial ground marks the grave of Ann Elizabeth Hunter, who died in 1843. A city ordinance designated the site as Oak Hill Cemetery on January 10, 1854. Located in the part of Goliad called "College Hill", the cemetery contains almost 1,000 known graves. The city maintained the site until 1882, when the Oak Hill Cemetery Association was formed. No new lots have been available for sale since the early 1900s. Many prominent citizens of early Texas are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery." - Texas Historical Marker
