My favorite science fiction movie is "The Andromeda Strain." It was the first Michael Crichton novel (Jurassic Park, Rising Sun, Twister) to be made into a movie. The story is about a satellite that returns to Earth with a virus from outer space. It lands in the small town of Piedmont, New Mexico and kills almost everyone in the town. A group of scientists are assigned to find out why some people survived and what is the germ that killed the others. The movie was made over thirty years ago and so some of the features, like the computers, are distinctly outdated. Nevertheless, it is hailed as the best scientifically done movie ever.
