An ammo can hidden at beautiful Murdering Beach near Dunedin, accessed via a dry weather only road.
Scenic Murdering Beach is just east of Long Beach, a 30 minute drive from central Dunedin. From Purakanui road above Port Chalmers, take the gravel Heyward Point road east, which leads to Murdering Beach road. Murdering Beach road is signposted as being a "Dry Weather Only" road, so please use discretion when deciding whether or not to attempt this cache. Our 2WD car was fine, the road is not very rough but there are some quite steep sections when coming back up hill from the beach.
After parking at the end of the road, the cache is a five minute walk along the beach. An abundance of intersting sea birds and pretty shells can be found here.
You are looking for a black ammo can complete with log book, pencils, stash note and swaps, hidden at ground level, visible from two meters at the right angle. Coordinates are accurate to four meters. Cache is not affected by high or low tide.
