Geocache Description:

Welcome to the new Chamber of Secrets cache!

The given coordinates are only a starting position.

As the new owners of Chamber of Secrets, The Young 1z have planned an adventure puzzle cache for you to enjoy! Please read this entire log to ensure you know how to find the cache.

Keen puzzle solvers will enjoy this one.  We have devised a series of clues that will ensure you become familiar with Chambers Island and its many secrets, stories and features. You will need to solve all of the clues to find the cache.

Give yourself plenty of time to play the game, as the coordinates clues can not be solved without visiting the island.  Bring along a pencil, a notepad, a packed lunch, a blanket to sit on while you work out a few clues, and perhaps a compass.

Download and print the Chamber of Secrets Cheat Sheet from the photo gallery.  Take it with you.  If you do not have a printer you may want to write all of the clues on the notepad you will be taking with you.

Chambers Island is a lovely little island in the Maroochy River just north of the CBD.  Access to the island is a stroll across a footbridge over the river.  You will find many facilities to make your stay on Chambers Island very comfortable.  There are toilets, showers, a fresh water drinking fountain, a playground and many picnic tables.  The island is basically flat and would take about 15 minutes to circumnavigate on foot, though there are no concrete paths, save the one leading from the bridge to the toilets and the building behind it.

We understand the link most people would make between the name Chamber of Secrets and a well known book and movie in the Harry Potter series.  However, in keeping with our theme of enlightenment, and giving visitors to the area some interesting facts or history regarding our cache locations, we would like to mention how the island came to be called Chambers Island.

Thanks to the North Arm State School 'Fact-a-thon', (http://ntharmss.eq.edu.au/wcmss/index.php/history.html) we were able to find the story behind the name;

In 1876 – Thomas Chambers became one of the first settlers in the Fairhill (North Arm) area when he applied on 20th March 1876 for 140 acres, at an annual rental of three pounds ten shillings.

The Chambers brothers cut timber and floated it down the river to Maroochydore where a log boom was set up between the island at Cotton Tree and the south bank where the logs were caught. This island is now named Chambers Island in memory of the Chambers brothers.

The cache you seek contains a logbook only and you will need your own pen. Stealth should be easy to achieve, so please take your time to return the cache to the state in which it was found. Thank you.
