You will need a boat of some kind.
Lake Karapiro was formed in 1947 when Karapiro dam was completed.
The bridge nearby was constructed to replace the original Australian Hardwood bridge which was floated off using 44 gal. drums when the lake was filled.
The closest launching area is near another geocache, Hora Hora Stinger, GCKMQK.
The cache is in a screw top container which the rats won't chew this time, I hope!.
As you approach the GC be careful of lakeweed and sticks under the water.
During duck shooting season (starts 1st weekend in May)this area is infested with duck shooters, so avoid it early morning & evening.
