On the Waimanalo End of the Maunawili Demonstration Trail
A nice hike along the Maunawili Trail but without a geocache at the Waimanalo End.....till now.
The short way, only 2 miles or so, begins at N21 20.559 W157 44.564. Follow the trail marked 'Maunawili Demonstration Trail.' When you encounter side trails, take the one with the sign "No Horses Allowed". There's a couple of these and the trail to take is toward the left.
The long 'scenic' route is to start at the Pali Hairpin Turn, N21 21.847 W157 46.804 and hike about 7 miles to the cache. There's several other caches along the way.
The cache is a long cammoed Lock & Lock with the usual swag items to get things rolling. A nice arrowhead will be awarded to the FTF at a later date. (Several cachers were with me when I hid the cache and have already signed the log.)
I gave this a 2.5/2.5 due to the distance needed to get to the cache. It's narrow and steep in a couple of places. It's fine for kids, just no horses (Sorry, Mr. Ed)
