The current land manager of this area (St Johns River Watermanagement District) is in the process of turning this land over to another entity. They have asked that all the geocaches on this property be removed while they work out who is going to be the new land manager. Please pick up your container as soon as possible.

Geocache Description:

We placed this one close to where we watched a hawk chase a squirrel away from her nest. The trail is one of our favorite places to hike. We always see so much wildlife.

We observed a hawk chasing a squirrel away from the hawk’s nest several 100 feet to the south of where we set this cache. The area where the nest was located has a culvert to allow water to flow under the trail. The wet element and close proximity to an active nest lead us to set the cache north of the event which gives this cache its name. The actual chase began in the large oak just a few feet off the trail. At first it looked like the hawk was hunting the squirrel and later we noticed the nest in the next tree. Hopefully the hawk will be in the area during your visit.

STEALTH is a must. Lots of non-cache folk.

The recumbent bike rider is there every day...say hello, he is very friendly.
