Geocache Description:

One of several caches hidden along the Midland Rotary Waterfront Trail

The Midland Rotary Waterfront is an 8km long trail made up of concrete, asphalt, paving stones, wooden boardwalk and gravel that connects the Tay Township trails from Ste. Marie Among the Hurons

in the south through Ste. Marie Park and along the residential waterfront to the Midland Town Dock and Downtown Core and on through recreational lands and private marinas to the Mid-Pen Walking Trail in the north.

In this corridor there are seven public parks featuring vantage point lookouts, resting amenities and photo opportunity flower gardens and a man made waterfall.

Walking, roller-blading, bicycling, limited snowmobiling allowed on this trail system.

Through the efforts of Dr. Tanner, a wooden structured ski jump was built on the "mountain" in Midland. Later Pete Peterson rebuilt it and in the late 1950's early 1960's International competitions took place here. The death of Pete Peterson brought an end to this and eventually the ski jump was demolished. The hills at Mountain View are now used for Alpine skiing with tows in operation.
