Geocache Description:

The third annual Upper Ottawa Valley Cache Challenge

Time, once again, to lose some winter weight and get out and about in the Valley!

Wake up and smell the land mines!

Due to the overwhelming success and positive comments received from participants at the first two UOVCC's we're gonna try doing it again!

DOING WHAT?

All Upper Ottawa Valley geocachers are encouraged to hide a few new caches for the third annual Upper Ottawa Valley Cache Challenge (heretoafter referred to as UOVCC#3) but if you can't manage that you are still most welcome to attend. However, the more caches hidden, the more fun we'll have. Plenty of time to get 15-20 new caches hidden.

Please note the coordinates given are those of last year's post-hunt meeting location: Kelsey's Restaurant in Petawawa

CACHES FOR THE EVENT!

Get out there and hide one or more caches within a 45 minute drive of Petawawa.

When registering the cache please start the name of the cache off with UOVCC3 (i.e. UOVCC3 - Gomer's Pyle or UOVCC3 - Frog on a Log). This will make it easier to identify caches associated with the UOVCC3 event using the search feature at www.geocaching.com.

Remember to give the reviewer 10 days to review the cache submission!

Remember to leave a note for the reviewer specifying that you'd like the cache released on the Wednesday prior to the day of the event... i.e. Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Once approved... but not published... please email me, DrDumbAss the URL of your new cache page or the Waypoint and I'll add it to a table of links on this page. Please also let me know the approx. location of the cache so that we can spread them out well. I will also provide a link to a .loc file for downloading in the last few days before the event which will include waypoints for all of the caches involved in the Upper Ottawa Valley Cache Challenge #3.

ATTENDING THE EVENT!

All GeoCachers are welcome! R.S.V.P. (by logging notes to this event page) so that I have an idea for numbers for the restaurant reservation. Let me know if you are attending the event and if you are attending the meal gathering at the restaurant afterwards. Please also let me know the number of adults and youth attending.

Then at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, with your GPSr loaded up with all of the new caches, go out and find as many as you can!

(You're on your honour not to start early, but if there are puzzle caches submitted, feel free to work on these in the comfort of your own home prior to the 6:00 p.m. Friday kickoff!)

Twenty-four hours later, at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, cease caching and head to Kelsey's restaurant in Petawawa (at the above posted coordinates) to tabulate who found what caches, share our experiences, pig out and get to know one another. After the event our UOVCC#3 caches will live on and hopefully this event will attract new cachers.
