The Ginter Place Traditional Cache

Welcome to the Rapid Lightning Creek Segment of the Pend Oreille Wildlife Management Area.
Prior to acquisition by the Idaho Department of Fish & Game, the Ginter family owned this property since the early 1950s. Harold Ginter recalls the old Humbird Lumber Co. trestle crossing Pack River (by the current fire station) as still being intact when the family moved onto the property. Only a few pilings remain now.
This lower reach of Pack River provides excellent riparian habitat with the adjoining ox-bow sloughs and wetlands. The steep west-facing uplands offer ideal winter range for deer, elk and moose.
Turn off Colburn-Culver Road at the Northside School onto Rapid Lightning Creek Road. About 0.4 miles past the Pack River General Store (and Arlene's wonderful deli) turn right onto Ginter Road. Follow the signs and orange markers to the parking area.
Remember, there is an easier way to get to the cache than by simply following your GPSr.
