A cache in our winter series (This one is Mrs Nofs idea). Now that it's winter we have time to make a few puzzles - and maybe encourage others to get out for a bit of night caching.
Definitely a bit of night caching required here! Note that some of the shadows are cast by floodlights which seem to be turned off about 10 - 10:30pm.
To solve this cache you'll need to visit each of four waypoints (listed below). At each waypoint you will be able to see one of the shadows (pictures below). The information you need is found on the object on which the shadow is cast (may require moving a bit to visit it!). The four pieces of information are (not necessarily in the correct order)
- The number of steps up to the main front door of the building.
- The number of steps up to the main front door of the building.
- The total number of letters in the words on the end of the building.
- The number on the plaque.
The letters in the following refer to the answer to the question relevant to the shadow below with that letter.
The cache is located at:
S 45 52.(A*C + B + 2*A)
E 170 30.(D*B/A - D*A - A - C - D)

At Waypoint BS1 you are looking for shadow D
At Waypoint BS2 you are looking for shadow A
At Waypoint BS3 you are looking for shadow C
At Waypoint BS4 you are looking for shadow B

Shadow A, one of the spotlights has lost power. The left half of the shadow is a bit weak.
Shadow B has been updated - the lighting seems to have changed completely.
