Besides GC1BJW8, this is an other military base between Érd and Biatorbágy. While that one is interesting because of the base itself, this cache leads you step by step closer to the nature. At the first two points, don't expect nice view but the final cache is for what is worth to make the tour.
The cache was installed long time ago but in the meantime the owner lost interest of maintaining it thus I adopted it on geocaching.hu site. I tried to initiate the same procedure on geocaching.com, however I haven't got answer any more. After the cache was archived for this reason, I could renew the listing and add my own description.
During the years of socialism, Hungarian leaders defended us well against "danger" of the western civilization. The comrades kept us "cozy and warm" under very safe conditions... This old radar base is one of numerous examples. When we were young there were soldiers, guards and the whole area was strictly prohibited for other persons. Even nowadays the territory is protected by a fence.
Approach
: The site can be easiest approached from Érd. Coming from Budapest, turn down from the M7 highway at Érd's output. Leaving the highway, turn left on the main road and go straight up to the Esztergályos street (N 47 25.486', E 018 52.198' and turn left here. You can park near to N 47 25,328', E 018 51.718'.
