Giant Potholes...
You find many sizes of giant potholes in the coast cliffs at Sortevad.
These are formed by turbulent waves in former times oceans, wich in many years has whirled sand and stones in circular motions in an existing hollow in the rocksurface.
The same rotating movement of the stones - on the same spot in a very long period - is the reason, why there was formed a hole in the cliffs. These holes have smooth sides and look like a cooking pot. Therefore they got their name: potholes.
In former time people believed, that the giants had something to do with these holes. Nature phenomenons you couldn’t explain, were often made by trolls or giants. The hollow in the cliffs looks like a pot and the name of it got to be “giant pothole”.
