Iroquois park is well know for its forested hillsides and
excellent vistas of the city, but not for its
waterfalls. This
waterfall being one of the best examples in the park is a good
reason why. If you want
to see a waterfall here you will need to don your slickers and
visit on a very rainy
day. The namesake of
this waterfall is Charles Jacob who while Mayor of Louisville
bought 300 acres of what is now Iroquois Park and sold it to the
city of Louisville in
1889. The park soon
became known as Jacobs Folly after the initial park improvements
were washed away by heavy spring rains of
1889. Who knows maybe
some of those improvements washed right over this
waterfall?
The
cache is a small PB container hidden near the
waterfall. It is large
enough for small trade items and contains only a log so bring a pen
or pencil with you. Please wedge container back up in the
same place as found.
Please use caution when in the area, these rocks can be
slippery even when they look dry.
