The view south towards Auchencairn
This is a PhotoCache (optional) located conveniently close to
the viewpoint at the highest point of the Forestry Commission
'Doach Wood' waymarked trail. There is a choice of well defined
footpath routes from the car park just off the B736 south east of
Castle Douglas.
We recommend the 2 mile yellow trail which is a fine woodland
walk. The views from the viewpoint over Auchencairn Bay are quite
magnificant - hence the thinking behind the Photo Cache. You can
extend your route by following the red route anti clockwise section
once you descend to join the path from the viewpoint - the choice
is yours.
Once you find the cache you will find a disposable camera as
well as the usual log book etc. Using the view as your backdrop why
not take a photograph with you in the picture - hopefully there
will be more than one of you in your group!
We will upload your pic's to the site.
NOTE: If you receive a weak satellite signal due to tree
cover. Continue to the viewpoint - you will easily acquire a good
signal to navigate you to ground zero.
