Alexander Rea is the founding father of the village of Alexander and he is burried here in the cemetery a long railroad street.
Alexander Rea fought in the revolutionary war against England with the penn. Miltia. After the war he came to the western NY area to work for the Holland Land Office as a survayor. He received land for his services south of Batavia. He started two villages. One called Alexander and the other called Rea. The hammilet of Rea is located between Alexander,Batavia, and Darien and can be only found on old maps of the area.
