Negro Creek has a very interesting history. It flows from the Negro Lakes which are found SE of this location. The are was settled by people who has travelled the Underground Railway to Owen Sound as it was one of the termini for the railway. The people now referred to as Afrocanadians operated lime kilns in the lakes area and the lime was used in the very busy brick quarries in Owen Sound around the 1900s.A few years ago the name was changed to Moggie Creek to be more politically correct. That is, until descendants of the original settlers objected and had the name reinstated as it has been for more than a century.
The cache is a cammo box that found a home at the Creek crossing the Hwy.Please watch for traffic and muggles.
It has some small trade items,a logbook, pencil & my signature piece.
I have changed the winter friendly part as we have a ton of snow here.
