Cache contains only a log and is located along the Buxton Woods Trail loop. The tree coverage is thick and the coordinates may only bring you as close as 30 feet from the cache location. Read the cache description/clue and you should not have a problem locating the cache.
Buxton Woods is one of nine sites in the N.C. Coastal Reserve Program. Its 825 acres are housed in one of the largest tracts of maritime forest left on the Carolina coast.
Buxton Woods serves as an important resting place for migratory birds in the fall. More than 360 species of birds, including bald eagles, peregrine falcons, American redstart, Chuck-will’s widow, killdeer and yellow-crowned night heron, have been recorded.
