In the early morning hours of May 1st, 2008 Griswold of the Supreme Guajome High Council officially announced the end of the war with the Lotrations. In a message broadcast throughout the Calaveras Empire he said combat actions have been halted. He went on to state “Their weapons stockpile has been destroyed and they are in full retreat. Our common enemy has been vanquished and the evil-doers are now prostrate before us!”
Huge crowds dressed in festive colors gathered nearby the historic Olivenain water tower in western Calaveras Hills, scene of the historic battle in which outnumbered Olivenains heroically repelled a force of Lotrations intent on siphoning off the Olivenain’s only source of water, and cheered as the Supreme Commander came down to the historic rusty pipe and addressed the jubilant crowd.
In his speech he paid tribute to all those who had "fought valiantly" on land, sea and in the air. "We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing; but let us not forget for a moment the toil and efforts that lie ahead. We must now devote all our strength and resources to the completion of our task, both at home and through out the North County. Advance Olivenains!"
There were fireworks and effigies of the Lotration despot burned on bonfires around the capital.
Later Supreme Commander Griswold was greeted by cheering crowds as he made his way towards New Venture Cathedral and appeared on the flag-bedecked balcony where he was greeted with further cheering and waving from the crowd and a round of "For he's a jolly good fellow".
