Small Country Cemetery on the outer boundaries
This is the 10th in our series dedicated to "Country Music"
Hank Williams Jr once said "there is some twang in your veins somewhere"
HILLBILLY DELUXE, This song was written, produced and sung by none other than one of our all time favorites
Brooks and Dunn.
They have so many Country Music awards, they had to have additions added to their homes in Nashville to house them all. This group is just pure Country, they will make you smile, laugh, cry, and remind you of just what life is all about. Their music is written from their life's experience's.
They have a new book that is due to be released soon,
The adventures of Slim and Howdy. Fits them perfectly.
They have recorded so many albums, all of which I do own, I am proud to say.
Hillbilly Deluxe is a true out and out country song. Many people joke about us being out in the "boonies or hillbilly haven". To be quite honest, we enjoy living in the country, it's quiet, calm, serene, and we don't have to pay for our fertilizer, our farm animals do take care of that for us.
When this song first hit the radio last year, I said to one of the Hillrats, "that is so much us." He nodded and agreed. This song starts out with a coyotte expressing his vocals cords in the background.
Here is a verse or two or three. Enjoy.
"Hey, up in the backwoods, down in the holler,
Old boys feelin' like a dog on a collar,
Keepin' that chain pulled tight,
Waitin' on Saturday night."
"Put on the smell-good, put on Skynyrd,
Head into to town like a NASCAR winner.
Cruisin' back an' forth to the Tasty-Freeze.
Everywhere you look, all you see..."
"Hillbilly deluxe, slick pick-'em-up trucks.
Big timin' in a small town.
Stirrin' it up right about sundown.
Black denim an' chrome to the bone with a little home grown.
Country girl cuddled up...
Hillbilly deluxe."
In our parts out here in the country, we prefer to be called Hillrats, but we will take Hillbilly Deluxe as a compliment. Hillbilly Deluxe can be found near this cache site, just look around you, we are everywhere.
This is the final resting place for some of the oldest farmers in St. Joseph County. They worked the land, they got up every morning, tended to their animals, their fields and threw up a prayer for a good harvest in the fall.
Farming is quickly becoming a thing of the past, take a ride out to Hillbilly Deluxe, this is home for us.
This cache has a lot of cool stuff in it for kids, Caching Princess donated most of the items in there. There are Cowgirl boot ribbon decorations in there for a lucky little girl who wears boots. Cache also has a TB in it.
Good luck, be respectful, and Have fun.
Throw a wave to the farmer who is doing his spring planting.
