Witherslack Wander [2] - Yew Are Right
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is one of four caches in a four mile circular route designed to be walked in an anti-clock wise direction starting from the car park as way marked. It is hoped this will appeal to families, as there is plenty to see on the way. Please note the paths can be muddy so boots or wellies are advisable.
This cache is set in woodlands above Witherslack Church.
From Yew Might Be Right cache follow the bridleway (blue arrows) ignoring other footpaths (yellow arrows). Go through the gate and across the field towards the rooftops of houses. As you cross this field you can look across to your right and you will see Whitbarrow Scar. Go through the next gate into the lane by the houses and follow this lane until you reach a minor road and turn left. You are only this road for a short while but take care. Soon you should see a bridleway sign on the right to Witherslack Hall which you should follow. You can detour off here to the Dean Barwick Infants cache GC14DDT.
After climbing steadily up hill you will reach a cairn with a sign post in the centre of it. Take the footpath to the left heading downhill, this path forks immediately, the cache is on the right hand fork. As the cache is in woods and GPS signals can be tricky use the name of the cache and the clue to help you.
