Geocache Description:

Browns Well Football Club

This cache has been placed at the home ground of the Browns Well Football Club. The cache should not be attempted whilst there is any activity (winter or summer sports) on the oval as the cache is in a somewhat exposed location with there being nowhere for a cacher to hide if caught in the act!

The Browns Well Football Club plays in the Riverland's Independent Football League. The Browns Well Football Club is known as the Browns Well Bombers, and they wear brown and gold jumpers.

According to the footypedia web site the Browns Well Football Club formed in 1969 following the merger of the Alawoona, Peebinga, Taplan and United Ramblers Football Clubs to play in the Upper Murray B Grade Football Association.

Alawoona formed in 1910 in an unofficial competition. In 1920 Alawoona joined the Browns Well Football Association.

Peebinga formed in 1927 and commenced playing in the Browns Well Football Association in 1963 where they were known as the Sandhill Savages.

Taplan formed in 1922 and commenced playing in the Browns Well Football Association. Between 1923 and 1933 Taplan played in the Gordon Football Association. Between 1934 and 1940 Taplan played in the Loxton District Football Association. In 1948 Taplan rejoined the Browns Well Football Association.

United Ramblers formed in 1963 and commenced playing in the Browns Well Football Association.

In 1972 the Upper Murray B Grade Football Association was renamed the Riverland Independent Football League, with the Browns Well Football Club becoming the inaugural premiers.
