Le bac à traille

Cette cache est située près de la tour de la traille à Grigny. La cache ne contient que le logbook : Prévoyez donc un stylo.

This cache is located near the ferry-cable tower at Grigny. The cache only contains the logbook, so you should take a pen with you.

Sur le Rhône, on trouve des bacs depuis l'antiquité. Ils transportaient les gens et matériaux d'une berge à l'autre. Cette cache vous amenera vers la tour et méchanisme de la treuile.

A reaction ferry is a ferry that uses the current of the river to propel the vessel across the river. They operate faster and more effectively in rivers with strong currents. These vessels require overhead cables suspended from towers anchored on either bank of the river. A "traveller" is installed on the cable and the ferry is attached to the traveller by a bridle cable. To operate the ferry the bridle cable is adjusted so that the pontoons are angled into the current, causing the force of the current to move the ferry across the river. For more information, click
