The Five Crossings #4 - Reason for the Rail Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Inkyfiller: Got around to all Five in the series today, and after reading all the logs, I have decided to Archive the series, and make room for some new caches. It was a fun run. A huge thank you to all the searchers and the finders. Happy caching. Inkyfiller

Geocache Description:

Cache located near the gates to the Ivaco Rolling Mill. If you approach from Cassburn road, you will appreciate this industry. If it were not for the mill, the OCR spur line would not exist.Watch for Muggles.

The “Five Crossings” is a series of five Caches. It is not a traditional Multi cache, in that four of the caches are stand alones. The final cache requires completion of the other 4. Each of the 4 stand alone cahces contains part of the coordinates that provide the location of the final cache. The partial coordinates are located on the inside front cover of the logbook: Cache # 1 -- N 45.xx.NNN ; Cache #2 -- N 45.NN.xxx ; Cache #3 -- W 074.xx.NNN and Cache #4 -- W 074.NN.xxx. Combining these four sets of coordinates will lead to the location of Cache #5. The posted coordinates of Cache #5 are the OCR offices and yard in Vankleek Hill. This is not the actual location of the final cache.

Each cache is a camouflaged 600 ml lock & lock, containing a log book, pencil, cache info page, swag, and a FTF prize.

The four stand alones are located near, but not by, level crossings where the OCR line intersects with local roads. The fifth is near a location where the OCR crossed a now abandoned CPR rail line. Please remember that the OCR, while not in frequent use, does still have operating traffic and caution should be exercised at all times, especially when caching with children. Caches are located as per Ground Speak rulings on operating rail systems.
