The short hike to the beautiful falls is fairly steep but certainly
worth the effort to get there - or get back that is! It is downhill
there but a good hike back. This Nature Reserve is one of my
favourite places in the Rustenburg area. There is a wide variety of
animals to be seen and one of the few places in South Africa where
the Sable Antelope is plentiful. Saw a small herd of 7 while
placing the cache.
There is a nominal entrance fee to enter the Reserve, but then
one can soend the whole day here and there are lovely braai
facilities and camping available. No shops though, but there is a
shopping centre 300m from the entrance to the Reserve.
Remember to do the other 5 caches in the Nature Reserve - 1st
View, Longdrop, Bosluiskrans, Baba Swartwitpens & Micro Orange.
These will make the fee all the more worthwhile.
Note: It has recently been mentioned by fellow cachers that if
you want to walk to Tierkloof Falls you need to tell the Management
at the entrance that you intend doing the walk. There are no
problems attached - they just would like to know about it. Enjoy
your visit.
