Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches in the area of Darlington town centre, highlighting some of the history of the town. The cache is a tiny magnetic nano.

There are lots of car parks round the town, unfortunately all pay and display.
This is a Magnetic Nano cache. Please replace it in the same spot to keep it out of sight as much as possible. As with all town caches, they are in high muggle areas so you will have to be careful!

For much more information on Darlington visit the web site Visit Darlington
There are some excellent pdf documents at the bottom of the page giving loads of history and information and walks.

This might be the hardest challenge yet! A very high muggle
area, especially market days, which are Saturday and Monday.

The cache is near an area renovated in the 1990’s. This work
un-earthed some medieval graves and the bones were re-buried in the
same area.

The covered market was opened on the 2nd May 1864, along with
its iconic clock tower which was given by Joseph Pease, whose statue
is in the town centre.

Near by is St. Cuthbert’s church built between 1183 and 1230.
When it was built it gained the nickname of ‘The Lady of the
North’.
Next to it, now covered by the Town Hall, was the Bishops Palace. A
meadow and the High and Low Parks extended up towards the present
day station.
